This news site is run as a news blog by an individual who finances it. This is a non commercial non profitable blog.

The purpose is a to make local news available for non commercial use.

It relies on News feeds from Councils, BBC, Police, Local Blogs, Local news.In order to add extra content and services our external links and displays are free.

As the blog is to promote local news free and is non commercial non profit making network it would not be possible to pay Press Association Commercial licence fees for content because it is not set up to make a financial gain.

A recent court case agrees commercial users can be charged for content that is resold for profit. However non commercial blogs etc would not be charged.

However it appears some press associations are getting rather greedy and are chasing private bloggers for fees if they are using some local newspaper feeds.

They appear to be using a debt collection business called Buchanan Clark & Wells of Glasgow who are sending made up charges for use of copyright material.

If you are a private blogger having the same problem I would like to hear from you.

If you are a online newspaper or press association your comments would also be welcome.

If anyone has a problem with the content of this site and wishes for any content to be remove please contact me.

  • Dangerous overgrown vegetation, 19th August
The overgrown bushes, nettles and trees are now becoming a danger to pedestrians as they are obstructing the pavement to such an extent that I have to step off the pavement and into the road when walking either my dogs or my son in his pushchair. This has become progressively worse for acouple of years, to the point now of being a serious risk.

  • Junction to planters at Bretby Garden Centre obscured, 19th August
I have grave concerns after pulling out of Planters at bretby, burton on trent yesterday following noticing the new fencing that has been erected to the right of the junction as you leave the garden centre. Due to the angle of this fencing you have to pull into the road in order to see what is travelling from burton upon trent before the blind stop caused by the fence is cleared. Thus in turn is then too late if anything travelling at speak. Also noting the age of many of the visitors to bretby not being able to react in time. I ask that a visit is made please to assess what i am reporting.

  • Ridiculous Traffic Light Sequence timing, 13th August
The traffic lights at the junction of the B6050 and Racecourse Road at Whittington have absolutely stupid timings. The traffic lights seem to always give priority to the traffic coming from Racecourse Road, to the extent that today at around midday, the traffic lights were green for no longer than 5 seconds for traffic on the B5060 for only ONE car which pulled out of Racecourse Road. As such there can be long queues on the B6050 especially around midday and 5-6pm. The traffic lights have a Turn Right Only light for southbound A6050 traffic, which I have never ever seen being used. The timings should be changed so that less priority is given to traffic on Racecourse Road, and more priority is given to southbound traffic on the A6050.
